Perilla (Perilla frutescens var.crispa)


Bred by one of our Japanese specialist breeders, known as Japanese Shiso. ‘Oodaka’ has bright green serrated leaves, used as a fresh market variety with leaves eaten raw or steamed with sushi and sashimi.

Typical leaf size: 7 x 5cm (length x width)

Maturity: Early

Best period to harvest: once the leaves turn bright green.

Production: open field.

Culinary use: eat fresh as an alternative salad leaf or steam and wrap the leaves around sushi.
